The local and long distance bus stops are within easy walking distance making the New Excelsior backpackers hostel an excellent choice for exploring Christchurch, the Canterbury region and New Zealand's south island.

Getting to New Excelsior Backpackers Hostel:

BUS: Local Christchurch and Airport buses drop off at the Bus Exchange on Litchfield Street, just 2 minutes walk from the New Excelsior Backpackers Hostel. Long distance buses drop off along Worcester Street - turn right onto Manchester and walk 3 blocks, it is less than 10 minutes walk.

AIR: Christchurch International Airport is 10km north-west of the city. You can catch bus no. 3 or 10 for $7.50 to the Bus Exchange (last bus from airport around 11.30pm), just 2 minutes from the New Excelsior Backpackers Hostel. Alternatively you can catch an airport-city shuttle bus for about $17 which will drop you right outside our door.

TRAIN: From the train station you can catch the no. 51 bus which will drop you off at the Bus Exchange and costs $2.80 or you can get the shuttle bus into town for about $6.
